Organic Spiced Winter Sangria

This sangria spiced with the warm flavors of cinnamon, clove and cardamom is a wonderful wintery spin on the classic fruity drink.



MAKES: 8 servings


Use organic ingredients where possible.

For the Spiced Syrup:

  • 4 Simply Organic® Cinnamon Sticks
  • 4 Simply Organic® Whole Cloves
  • 12 teaspoon Simply Organic® Cardamom
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 1 cup water

For the Base:

  • 1 bottle rosé wine, chilled
  • 16 ounces sparkling apple cider, chilled

For the Garnish:

  • Arils (fruit/seed pods) from 1 pomegranate
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 pear, cored and thinly sliced


To Make the Syrup:

  1. In a small pot, add cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom, orange slices, coconut sugar and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Into a jar, strain the liquid and let cool.

To Make the Sangria:

  1. In a large carafe or pitcher, combine cooled syrup, chilled rosé and sparkling apple cider. Mix well.
  2. Add pomegranate arils, orange slices and thinly sliced pears.
  3. Serve chilled.
